Miroslav Rodríguez Bakulic
Born in the northern town of Tocopilla in the far north of Chile Miroslav Rodríguez has always felt an enigmatic and magnetic attraction to nature. The immensity of the desert and the grandeur of the mountains that surround his native town created in him the need to discover and understand the reason for such amazing landscapes. Motivated by this challenging question he studied geology and graduated in 1996. Currently he divides his time between geological consultancy work for his company Geocronos Ltda. and nature photography. The questions which occupied his mind when he was a child have since been resolved, however each time he travels through Chile the wonder of our planet does not fail to amaze him.
hotography combines perfectly with his profession and he has been interested in taking pictures since he was small when he first became involved with this art. He was guided by his father from whom he inherited the passion and sensitivity for photography that today has become his way of life. His professional training has allowed him to establish a close contact with nature and wild life: which is the reason why his photographs have a strong conservationist stamp. Through his photographic images he hopes to bring awareness to the community of the beauty, and at the same time the fragility, of our planet.
Miroslav is a member of the Chilean Federation of Photography (FCHF) and the Federatión Internationale de L´Art Photographique (FIAP). Several of his photographs have been published in magazines, calendars and used in scientific lectures. His images have also been shown in national and international exhibitions receiving great acceptance and numerous awards for their quality. Since 1999 to the present day he has participated in collective exhibitions organized by the Photo Club of Concepción.
Consuelo Coloma Arriagada
A geologist by profession and a naturalist and explorer by nature Consuelo Coloma has always felt the need to understand the environment surrounding her. Geology opened the door to the magical world of the landscapes that are hidden behind the contrasting geographical scenery of our country.
Seven years ago she decided to travel through Chile from the Altiplano right down to the distant lands of Southern Patagonia. Each one of her journeys has left a lasting impression on her of the majesty of our planet. At present she divides her time between geological consultancy work for the Geocronos Ltda. Company of which she is a Managing Partner, in producing articles and photographic products, setting up and carrying out scientific geo-safaris and in participating in conservation projects.
Photography became a part of her life precisely so she could share the beauty of our planet as well as generate an awareness of the need to preserve this world in which we live so that future generations may also enjoy and delight in nature.
